La Luz Suffer Major Setbacks in Semi-truck Collision
by Steven Spoerl
To say it’s been a turbulent week for Seattle-based surf band La Luz would be a massive understatement. After releasing their impressive It’s Alive on Burger (following its initial release on Hardly Art), continuing a streak that started earlier this year with Damp Face- one of the year’s best EP’s, the group survived a serious accident that destroyed all of their gear and merch. They were also forced to cancel the remainder of their tour as an opener for Of Montreal. Even though the members of the group did manage to escape the ordeal with only cuts and bruises, it created a dent in their finances even more sizable than the ones left in their van.
While La Luz have received an outpouring of support from their local area, that may not be enough. Donations to help stabilize La Luz can be made here and are strongly encouraged. La Luz’s KEXP performance of Damp Face standout “Call Me in the Day” can be watched below.
